Mary Lee Fletcher of Locust Valley and New York City on Oct. 14, 2015, age 87. Sister of Dugald A. Fletcher, also of Locust Valley, aunt of Sarah P. Fletcher, Mary Baker (Kane K. Baker) and the late Elizabeth F. Cronan (R. Todd Cronan), great-aunt to six nieces and 2 nephews. Concerned mother to her Shih Tzu, Fabio, and a friend to all animals.
A graduate of the Green Vale School, Glen Head, NY, St. Catherine's School, Richmond, Va. and Pembroke College (Brown University), where she was President of her class. Mary Lee has a distinguished professional career. Right out of school she was recruited for the CIA and moved to Washington D.C.
Following three years at the CIA, she worked at Benton & Bowles advertising agency in NYC. She subsequently joined Alberto Culver in Chicago for several years. She was then hired by Christian Dior Perfumes and eventually Christian Dior-New York, where she was Executive Vice President. Mary Lee created brilliant ad campaigns and also expanded the company into the accessories business, signing on and overseeing many licensees.
Witty, bold and kind, she was a mentor to many young people.
Service at St. John's of Lattingtown, 12 noon on Saturday, Oct 24. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA.
