Obituary of Chin Shih

Please share a memory of Chin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
What will we remember and tell future generations about 阿媽 / ah-ma? You were Strong. You lived in many countries around the world, adapting to each and being there for your family. You raised five caring children – each individual instilled with a wonderful sense of humor, strong work ethic and a respect and love for their families. You were Talented. You spoke six languages (learned English and earned your citizenship with pride and determination). You outsmarted soldiers in warring countries with your language skills. You handmade clothes with your nimble fingers and taught us how to knit (though we never learned how to finish). You impressed everybody with your calligraphy skills. You were witty with a quick and spunky sense of humor. You were Beautiful. Inside and out. You were elegant. You always had a twinkle in those deep brown eyes, and your skin was soft and beautiful. We will remember how the sunlight reflected on your silver white hair and how your grace magnified with time. We will always remember your smile. We will remember your touch. You were Loving. You reunited with your siblings in China, kept in touch with extended relatives over time. You shared family stories. You were patient and always there to listen when your children needed it. You welcomed them and your grandchildren into your arms and home. You always had a delicious meal on the stove, lots of snacks (sweet, savory, Chinese, Japanese, so many), along with advice to share with us. We remember hugging you, feeling safe, warm, happy and cared for. You are Loved. You leave behind a legacy. 5 children. 9 grandchildren. 2 great grandchildren. You were the root of a family tree that had a strong foundation. We will always love you and remember the amazing woman that you were. Love eternally, Your grandchildren (John, Nellie, Sophia, Stephanie, Eric, Anita, Angela, Alex and Tiffany) and great grandchildren (Kayla & Cassie) We also have a website with more information celebrating her life, which you can find at: http://chin.shih.muchloved.com/ Thursday July 22, 2010, 8 - 10am at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home Click for Map and Directions Thursday July 22, 2010, 10am at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home Click for Map and Directions Thursday July 22, 2010 at Pinelawn Memorial Park Click for Map and Directions
