I fell in love with Shakespeare and Dr. mates was the most powerful, sometimes-intimidating, but brilliant professor who raised the bar for all.

Today, 5/13/11, while reading the Post Press newsletter I learned of the passing of my beloved Shakespeare teacher, Dr. Mates. I was his student in the early 60s; he was my favorite teacher and his was my favorite and most memorable class. He had a gift for teaching us how to think and analyze. I loved him. My condolences.
