To the family of Harriet H. Flanagan:
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Death affects everyone on the face of this earth, yet when it touches us personally, few seek the comfort they search for. The unscriptual doctrines that are taught concerning death do not leave those grieving with comfort or a hope, but they do leave many with unanswered questions. The response that "God works in mysterious ways", does not satisfy the spiritual needs of those who are grieving (Matthew 5:3). However, many have found comfort in the pages of God's word the Bible (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). In God's word we find the promise that we can be reunited with our loved ones (John 5:28, 29, Acts 24:15). The Bible tells us where this happy reunion will take place (Psalm 37: 11, 29, Matthew 5:5). We are told why we die (Genesis 3:17-19, Romans 5:12), and that the God of the Bible will end death forever (1 Corinthians 15:26, Revelation 21:3, 4). In the model prayer, also called the lord's prayer, readers are taught to pray for God's Kingdom (Matthew 6:10). Learning the truth about the God of the Bible (Psalm 83:18, Revelation 4:11), God's Kingdom (Daniel 2:44), and the state of those who have died (Ecclesiastes 9:5), is the start to finding true comfort concerning loved ones who are sleeping in death, as well as satisfying answers to many other questions (John 8:32, John 11:11).

Nanny,
The world has lost a wonderful caring person. You were one of the nicest, considerate, compassionate people I have ever known. There are many horror stories about mother-in-laws, but I was very lucky. Not only were you a great mother-in-law you were also a good friend. I miss my friend.
Rest in peace Nanny.
Love, Ty

As I child I vividly remember going out to the Columbus airport to watch with anticipation as my Aunt Sase's plane from NY came into sight, landed and she descended the stairs to our welcoming party. As she walked across the tarmac she seemed like royalty or a Hollywood starlet with her trim figure dressed to the 'nine's' in a Lord and Taylor suit, hat and gloves, perfect coif and radiate smile. She literally took my breath away and I wanted to be just like her!
Her compassion and caring nature was ever present especially for her mother (our Nana), and my mother (her older sister). And when the two sisters, 'Sis' and 'Sas', got together the sounds of giddy laughter filled the air. They simple adored each other!
Visits to Glen Cove were the best and my aunt was the point person for fun and activities like sailboat rides, clambakes or games and art projects with my cousins.
When I was competing for the title of Miss America 1972, my aunt made sure the Flanagan's were in Atlantic City to cheer and celebrate.
Aunt Sase was the real deal and she always made me feel understood, appreciated and valued. She never forgot to send a birthday greeting or a Christmas surprise. Her beautiful spirit deeply imprinted on me and her loving qualities will forever be remembered and treasured.
My heart breaks for my uncle and three cousins who now face life without their precious and beloved wife and mother. So, across the miles, I send prayers that God will comfort each of you with His grace and peace.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you." John 12:27
