it's amazing how the smallest of things help shape our lives. I remember the first time we (Bonners) came up to visit n Uncle Donte picks up this really cool hand carved wooden chain, which he said he worked on carving a little each day while at sea. It's so perfectly formed and has small sections of chambered balls that move freely, each link connected to the exactly sized,free moving link connected all in a row from one solid piece of wood. upon retuning home i immediatly went to the woods surching for the perfect branch to make my own chain which I actually never accomplished, but, it so inspired me that a few years later i entered Vo-tech n graduated from advanced Carpentry n Cabinet Making, n from there learned the art of furniture making from an old Italian violin maker who reminded me of Uncle Donte. i still make n repair furniture n antiques n it all started with seeing that fantastic hand carved chain i was so impressed with, n could never forget. Thank you Uncle Donte for inspiring me in my life. I love you n will always miss you.

Having Dante as a neighbor enriched our lives. Through his telling us many stories of his years in the service, his recollections of watching his sons grow up in Glen Cove and his entertaining us with his beautiful voice, singing songs from the past, Danny Boy being one of his favorites, we were able to share some of his life's experiences. Ethel would always be there to serve the coffee and cake and play some of Dante's favorite songs. Dante left a lot of good memories behind for all of us.
