Wow. I'm shocked to hear this. I worked for Chuck Luyster back at the Chevy/Olds dealer from 91-94. Chuck was one of the nicest men I ever worked for in the industry. I always remembered him as a stand up business man. He made himself available to all his employees and also his customers. His door was always open. There weren't many around like Chuck. He will be missed. He was one of the great ones to work for. I learned lots under his leadership that I still carry with me today.
My condolences to his wife Elizabeth and children.

I met Chuck and Liz at Nassau Country Club and enjoyed many hours of golf, dinner dances and just plain fun. But the fondest memories Dan and I have with Chuck and Liz were the great times we had with them at Southold fishing for porgies, karaoke on the deck, spectacular sunsets and the unrivaled SoutHold Invitational Tournament. Rest In peace Chuck, forever in blue jeans. Love, Roe and Dan

I first met Charlie when I was in my early twenties, but worshipped Charlie and his friends from afar as a teenager. Thought they were so cool. When I grew up, Charlie, my husband, Charlie and I became good friends. I found his beloved dog, Charlie, in an abusive situation in the Bronx and the two would become inseparable. He often said it was a great way to meet people when he walked Charlie. Who can forget Charlie singing Karaoke at their many parties. His rendition of Sweet Caroline” was memorable to say the least. Charlie often had dinner with us when he was here alone always accompanied my his dog, Charlie,
Who would walk in our porch and promptly lift his leg. God bless you Charlie. Your Southold friends will forever miss you. Suzy Geitz

Heartfelt condolences to Chuck’s family.
But they aren’t enough to convey the loss of this great soul who graced our shores for so many decades.
A friend to my mother, a singing companion to me, and Charlie a friend to Seadog.
There will never be another like him. Kenneys Beach will always bear his footprints.
I know you’re charming the angels,
With great affection,
Lynne

I remember him as the fun dad of my best friend growing up. He was kind, generous and funny. He had a way of making people feel special and comfortable. I will always remember him taking us out fishing in the wee hours of the morning in Southhold when we were young, singing karaoke so terribly but with such feeling and being all dressed up with his lovely wife to go out to a club party while Carrie and I had a sleepover. After watching him dance to Neil Diamond's "Money Talks" with Carrie at her wedding, that song has ever since had a special place in my heart. He will be missed. I am thankful for all the beautiful memories. I hope that his family finds comfort knowing that he had a truly wonderful life. May he live on in their hearts and dreams.

It’s been too long since I’ve seen you, but that doesn’t make the memories any less vivid. You were the second father in the second house as I grew up. You taught me to fish and how to capsize a sailboat. You taught me a work ethic and a DIY approach to home ownership, even if some approaches we saw in "Primitive Pete" movies in school. You also taught me when jean shorts were too short to wear, sadly you never learned that. Most importantly, you taught me to stop and appreciate what you have, and to take in those moments. The picture of you in my head is an image I saw countless times. The Southold house was packed up, and everyone was leaving except for you. As we said goodbye and the sun was setting, you were settling in with a Heineken in one hand, a cigar in the other, and a joyous smile as wide as the Long Island Sound. That is the mental image of “joy” that I carry with me. You will be missed, but your memory will carry on with me forever.
