Aunt Marilyn was my godmother for the past 62 years. She reliably gave gifts at my birthday and Christmas celebrations during all of those years. She was a devoted
and informative friend of my family especially my mother who she had known since her Barnard College days. I hope that Aunt Marilyn finds peace and blessings
in heaven now with her husband and I shall forever miss her educated voice and energy to achieve success in life. She was a special person who influenced
many people in a most positive way.
Love,
Nancy

Luke, John & Dee, hello this is Debbie from Olivers in Huntington. I am so so sorry to see this news. Your mom and I shared a lifetime as well as all of you. I have and hold many wonderful memories. She was tired I imagine and now at peace with God holding her in his arms. You had wonderful parents who raised equally wonderful children. Godspeed and healing for each of you.
My love to you, Debbie

May God bless the soul of Marilyn DeLalio, such a loving, intellectually engaged, conscientious, charismatic and honorable woman. Please accept our deepest condolences on her passing.
Marilyn was so obviously blessed with a warm heart, brilliant mind, beauty, and devoted family and friends. We know her as an outstanding Barnard College '49 classmate and lifelong friend of Marlene's mother, Alma Schuhmacher Rehkamp, and our family.
Marilyn's love and tender pride in her family shone through in all our conversations and in her missives and other writing. We will miss her animated, open way of sharing news on her family's growth, artistic contributions and athletic feats across the years and generations, spanning from piano and guitar to voice, rock to opera, painting and photography to multi-media, sailing to squash. Her children, their families, and Jake Heggie were the apple of her eye.
We'll miss Marilyn's thoughtful insights on everything from higher education to Moby-Dick, from foreign wars to the state of the nation, from the political to the existential. We'll miss her humorous musings on her roles as a Barnard alumna leader, Laurel Hollow mother, Oyster Bay Guardian contributor, Princeton Club organizer, and fine arts and opera aficionado. We'll miss her gift for sharing, listening and questioning, and her insights on the creative mind.
It seems only yesterday when "Aunt" Marilyn, "Uncle" Lou, their children and my parents, sisters and I gathered at the DeLalios' idyllic waterfront home in Laurel Hollow. Lou would be pouring cocktails near the grand fireplace and holding court with an easy smile while Marilyn, in a mod dress, whipped up a scrumptious feast and peppered the conversation with news on the nearby Cold Spring Harbor Labs; downstairs, Dede would be listening to the latest bands while Luke and John expanded the fleet of model planes they were building out of balsa wood.
In her most recent message, when speaking about her cousin Steven Semes, an esteemed professor of architecture at the University of Notre Dame, Marilyn said, "I am the person who keeps us all connected." I am grateful to her for all she did following my mother's passing to keep us connected and our friendship alive.
May Marilyn's soul rest in peace. We're adding her to our continuing prayers for Lou, her sister Ann, his brothers, and the great DeLalio and Heggie Families.
Love,
Marlene
