Obituary of Filippo A. D'Ambrosio
Filippo Antonio D’Ambrosio was born on October 1, 1945, in Sturno, Italy to Mariano and Carmella D’Ambrosio. He later moved to Gesualdo where he lived with his siblings Rosa, Pasquale, and Giusepina. One of his proudest moments was serving in the Italian Army.
He married his love, Nina, in 1969 and they immigrated to the United States, settling in Glen Cove, New York. He established his own successful painting contracting company on Long Island resulting in many lifelong friendships.
Together they had three children, Daniel, Jerry, and Diane. Filippo loved his family and was always there to support them in everything they did. He was so proud of his children’s accomplishments and loved his daughters-in-law and son-in-law, Kelly, Cynthia and Dylan as if they were his own children. What brought him the most joy was the birth of each of his seven grandchildren, Isabelle, Philip A., Sara, Philip G., Michael, Nina and Andrew. He loved to make them laugh and tell them stories about his childhood in Italy.
Anyone who knew him recognized how much he loved people. His ability to connect and create meaningful relationships was his gift. He never said goodbye, in person or on the phone, without telling you how much he loved you. In the last few years, he began sending daily text messages to family and friends wishing them a great day and telling them he loved them.
He also loved and served the Lord faithfully. He instilled that love for God in his children. His faith never waivered.
Visitation on Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service on Thursday at Evangelical Christian Church at 10:30am. Interment to follow at East Hillside Cemetery.
