What a pleasure it was to be a friend of Madeline's. She was warm and friendly and smart and a wiz at scrabble I don't now where she got those words but they were in the dictionary and such an artist. Madeline gave me a portrait of Greta Garbo which she in turn allowed me to use this image for for the cover for the 2019 Woman's Club fund raiser in addition she also donated a beautiful painting which helped to raise a tidy sum of money Cinco De Mayo will always remind me of my friend Madeline. Rest in peace.Mercedes

Madeline Flores
Madeline and I have been friends since 1949 when we first met. Our parents rented apartments in Bayville LI for the summer to get us city kids out of the heat. We lived a block away from each other on 14th St. In Bayville. Every day we went down to the beach and swam or rode our bikes through Center Island and all over the little towns on the north shore. We sure did have fun. After Labor Day Maddy went home to Astoria and I to the Bronx. We met up the following summer. In 1958 while enjoying the day with our families we ran into each other at the Pig and Whistle in Bayville. From then on we had family gatherings often. Our husbands were friends too. After I moved to Albuquerque NM we called or wrote letters often. Throughout the years when I visited my family in NY and LI, I would spend a few days with Maddy at her home enjoying Pryibils beach and reminiscing about our fun together as kids. I am so thankful and blessed to have had a friendship with my dear, dear Maddy. And now your in Glory with our Lord, your beloved husband Ray, your baby boy, and your brother Robert and parents. No more pain or sorrow. You will be missed. I love you so much. Barbara X
