Obituary of Virginia Holder Hansen

HANSEN, Virginia H., longtime resident of Glen Cove on February 19, 2022 at age 100.  Beloved wife of the late Edward Harold Hansen.  Loving mother of Marjorie Elise Hansen.  Adored grandmother of Meredith Sigrid Hansen.  Cherished great-grandmother of Marcella Noelle Hansen, Thomas Parker Golden-Hansen, Madeleine Ingrid Grace Hansen.  Mrs. Hansen received her Bachelor's Degree at Adelphi University. Mrs. Hansen pursued a Master’s Degree from the teachers college of Columbia University in 1944. Pledged Delta Delta Delta. As part of her teaching career, she started the speech and drama program at Manhasset High School. Long time active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glen Cove serving on the session, worship committee, and outreach committee. Joyfully producing many Christmas Pageants. An enthusiastic choir member for decades. Glen Cove “Night Owl Bowling Group” member. Participant in the American Association of University Women. Throughout her life, she was committed to women’s equal rights encompassing educational opportunity for women as well as employment opportunities. She worked to promote pay equity. Her family will miss her forever. Visitation at the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home on Sunday 3:00 - 6:00pm.  Service at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home on Sunday at 5:00pm.  Interment on Monday at Hillside Rural Cemetery at 12 noon.
