Obituary of Charles Joseph Finlayson
Charles Joseph Finlayson of Glen Cove, New Yok passed away on June 28, 2022 at the age of 83. Born in Astoria, New York on March 28, 1939 to Julia (Severin) and Edward Finlayson, he was a beloved younger brother to Dorothy. Charlie grew up across the street from his parish, St. Francis of Assisi where he served as an Alter boy for many years.
In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Madden, and his family instantly grew to include his Sister-in-Law Patricia Madden and Dawn Marie. Two Years later the family expanded with the arrival of daughter Tracy Ann.
Charlie graduated from Bryant High School, was in the Army National Guard Infantry, Enjoyed Stock Car Racing, had a long career with UPS as a Feeder Driver, had an enormous love for animals, especially dogs, was an avid reader, but most importantly was a loving husband, father and friend.
Charlie had a larger-than-life personality, he always enjoyed the company of family, friends and had the ability to make new friends wherever he went. The end result was always many shared laughs and an abundance of memorable moments to treasure.
He will be deeply missed and continuously loved by his daughter Dawn & Johnny Ng, sister Dorothy (Finlayson) Harkins, nieces and nephews Linda Stewart (Bobby deceased), Kevin Niblo (Sue), Steven Harkins (Jill), John Niblo, Gary Harkins, Cathleen Niblo (Sean), Mariann Niblo, Nancy Fuentes (Juan) and Doreen Smith (Steve) and many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is now joyfully reunited with his wife Elizabeth, daughter Tracy Ann, Sisters-in-Law Patricia Madden and June Niblo, Brothers-in-Law Joseph Harkins and Johnny Niblo and many other members of the Finlayson, Madden and Niblo Families.
Charlie will be missed by all who knew him.
