Obituary of Carol Ann Canter

CANTER, Carol Ann of Lattingtown, NY on October 7, 2023 at Age 79.  Beloved wife of Stephen.  Loving mother of Stephen Jr. (Courtney), Marigrace Morris (Paul) and Joanna Roberson (Charlie).  Dear sister of Frederick Magovern (Susan) and the late John C. Magovern (Agnes).  Cherished grandmother of 8.  

Carol’s passions and interests included: opera, piano, theater, travel, American art, cooking, swimming and tennis. Above all, Carol cherished her time with family and close friends.

Carol was committed to service and leadership, especially as it pertained to education and the arts. She generously gave her time and talent as a writer in her board service at various institutions including: St. Jean Baptiste High School in New York City, Buckley Country Day School where she also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, The Professional Children’s School (Manhattan, NY), Wheaton College (her Alma Mater in Norton, MA), Planting Fields Foundation (Oyster Bay, NY) and The John J. Magovern Memorial Fund at Mercy Hospital (Rockville Centre, NY).

Visitation at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Patrick, on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:15am.  Interment is Private.
