I’m just learning of Mr. Mann’s passing. He told me in 7th grade, “Music is something you’ll have forever.” He was simply the best. The impact he had on so many young people’s lives is immeasurable. He motivated me to take my musical studies seriously and now almost 30 years later, I’m still deeply involved in music as a profession. His memory will always be a blessing! Rest in Peace!

My deepest sympathy goes out to Ed Manns family, friends and those who knew Ed wellI.
I was part of the Locust Valley Music teacher “family.” I looked up to Ed and the guys as “big brothers” being the only young woman in the department during the 1980s. Those were great time!….especially our bus trips to Disney! Ed’s son Charles and I played a practical joke on Ed during our Orlando stay. He laughed so hard along with the rest of us! I even remember Ed getting very bus sick in a bag on the way home trip. He held it up, saying “Good to the last drop!” Only Ed could pull something like that off and make us laugh.
Besides making us laugh, he was also the most talented musician, public and private school teacher ever! Ed, you will be truly missed.
Rest in Peace my friend….

I will miss you. It was great to have you as a band teacher and a long time family friend. I remember marching in the Columbus Day Parades with Mr. Sangenito. I’m also happy we went to St Rocco’s bakery for coffee to discuss life. It was really special having you in my home to tutor my daughter Carina and Emily. May you Rest In Eternal Peace and be in the band up there.

My deepest condolences go out to Mr. (Eddie) Mann’s family and friends. I have many fond memories of band and music in general because of him. He was charismatic, funny (combing his hair as he took the podium to conduct) and truly loved by students and teachers alike. Mr. Mann was an admirable human that reached many through humor and music, a model teacher in fact. Those who experienced music with him on the educational or professional level, and there are many, have been truly blessed. Rest in peace and music, you will be remembered and missed.

RIP my dear friend, teacher, musician, advisor but most of all the best father and grandfather ever. You taught me many important lessons about life in the six years we spent at LVHS not just how to play the Glockenspiel. Which he knew I NEVER wanted to play however because I already played piano You somehow even got me to join the marching band and carry that Glockenspiel while playing my heart out for you. I know that there was not another soul who could have gotten me to wear that polyester monkey suit and large military style hat except you. It most definitely paid off when your band was chosen to march in the anniversary parade at Disney World. You were simply spectacular in every way.
Thanks for your hard work over the years on behalf of our community and the district. Anyone who knew you was blessed Eddie Mann.

Mr Mann was a talented musician and outstanding band teacher to my 3 children, Chris, Rob , and Daniela at Locust Valley HS. We all loved him. He had a great sense of humor and made the lessons fun for the kids. We shared stories about our common Italian background and close knit families. May he rest in peace. Sending prayers to his family. .. Sandi Landon

From the age of 9 to my Senior year of high school, I was lucky enough to have Mr. Mann give me private sax lessons in my home. He gave me the confidence to be better than I ever imagined as a musician and a student. All of my best memories of school were because of him and his love of music. As time passed, we would always talk about cars, whose Corvette was faster [it was his], and share pictures of my kids and his grandkids. I always told him that I cannot wait for him to give my boys sax lessons when they are old enough.
Once in a lifetime, people get to meet a teacher like Eddie Mann. He shared his gift of music with the whole community, including myself and we will truly miss him.

My deepest condolences to the family: I'm sad for the loss of the teacher I knew so many years ago. Mr. Mann changed the way I felt about school and music, and always made us laugh. I will miss bumping into him while getting coffee and laughing about old times. You can see the joy in his face in the pictures with his children and grandchildren - I'm so happy he had the chance to experience those years. I will always remember him.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
"Mr. Mann" was one of my favorite teachers from Locust Valley, a very nice person who always treated us with a smile. A couple summers Mr. Mann even came to Bayville once a week to do some saxophone tutoring for me, I'll remember the G Major blues scale forever (G A Bb B D E) - Thank you Mr. Mann for all you did for us...

Eddie Mann was my daughter Riley’s music tutor from 5th grade until senior year. He always attended the school concerts (after retiring) to help tune the instruments and warm up the kids before the show. My favorite memory of Mr. Mann was his love of cologne, it had hang time in our house after he left! He also loved his little white dog, believe she was a Westie, so many pictures of her So sorry for this loss and I send his family our love ❤️

Ed and I had a lot in common. We were both veterans. While he served in the Air Force I was a Marine. We were both musicians and while he played in the Air Force Band I was a soprano bugler in the 1st Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. After military service we both became teachers at Locust Valley High School. Both our mothers graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Maspeth/Ridgewood Queens. We both liked cars and owned Corvettes. One year while still teaching I sold a car to a niece in Maine. Ed offered to drive the car up (over 300 miles) while I followed and we did it in a day. On the way home I treated Ed to a seafood dinner in New Hampshire. After retiring we drifted apart but reconnected in the 21st century. Once a year we would meet at Tabby's in Oyster Bay and we would remanence about the old days at Locust Valley.

We knew him as Mr Mann at LVHS; he touched so many student’s lives over the years. My dad was the district piano tuner for many many years and they always shared a good laugh together. My dad passed in 2022. I am sure they are sharing stories in heaven together! He was a wonderful person and will be missed.

Ed taught our daughter flute in 2017. Even after she stopped her lessons Ed stayed in touch with our family. He was a source of laughter, kind advice and much insight into the world of RVs. He always had Kit Kats at the end of lessons for our kids. We always look at a Kit Kat and think of Ed. When we get caught up in planning and worrying too much one of us will quote Ed: “you plan and God smiles” or “stop worrying you’re always worrying “. We are honored to have known this funny, generous and beautiful man.

Eddie has been like a member of our family since he began teaching with our father in the early 70s. His friendship with Felix, his beautiful musicianship, his stories and love for our dad will never be forgotten. While we are not local we tried to stay in touch and my sister would organize dinners together. We are so sorry he has passed but he'll be happily seeing his family members and playing music again with his best friend and I imagine enjoying Jayne's meatballs. Rest in Peace, Ed.
