Life. My word for George. Always eager to share his stories of a life well lived. Greeted at his home every time with a warm smile and he was quick to offer me a drink. George liked a quality shot of tequila or vodka from time to time. Next was always wine and food. He would share stories of his life and with each story I grew to love him more. Tales of growing up as the youngest child in a large family . Helping his mother grow food in the garden and then prepare that food for the family. Dancing in the clubs, meeting his wife Josie, time spent in the Army. His travels to Europe with his wife driving through the countryside enjoying the wine and food of the area. His trips with the family on weekends. The summer homes out east and all the fun sharing those home with family and friends. Cooking' boating, fishing. I could tell by the sound of his voice and the look in his eye how proud he was of those times and of his family. He especially came alive when his grandchildren were mentioned. I would listen for hours and sometimes hear the same stories a few times but they never got old. George became a second father to me and I loved doing things with him that I would do with my Dad before he passed. We built a cabinet together or hung up a mirror in the bathroom. The little things were the best times. Let's raise a glass to George and celebrate a life we'll lived. Cheers George, until we meet again!
