Obituary of Ronald F. Horman
Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Sunday, January 29th, we said goodbye to Ronald Francis Horman of Locust Valley who passed at his home amongst family and friends at the age of 69. Ron was born in Brooklyn and later moved to Locust Valley where he raised his two children, Ron and Meghan, with his late wife of 45 years, Ellen who passed away in 2015. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather.
Ron graduated from North Shore High School and soon after began working at his family business, Allen Pickle Works in Glen Cove. He was a proud and hard working entrepreneur and business owner. Ron was an avid and accomplished sailor, tennis and paddle tennis player, skier, and golfer. Ron also enjoyed playing the piano, loved to travel with his family, and loved the outdoors. Aside from his sharp sense of humor, Ron was also known for his vast knowledge of various subject matters and could answer questions on anything ranging from topics of jazz music to meteorology.
Ron will be remembered as a generous, stoic man with a strong presence who cherished his family and friends above all. He took a great deal of pride in his home and was happiest when it was full of life and laughter.
A private memorial will be held for Ronald at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
